The Northern Virginia BMP Handbook reflects the general requirements of Northern Virginia local governments for stormwater quality control under Chesapeake Bay and Occoquan requirements. It is intended for use by designers and reviewers of urban BMPs in meeting the stormwater quality requirements of Northern Virginia. Includes discussion of the theory and practice of implementing BMP controls, and presents the requirements set by local government review offices for calculating phosphorus removal as well as determining site coverage and volume requirements for BMPs necessitated by development. The Nonstructural Urban BMP Handbook provides watershed managers, planners, and the consulting engineering community with practical guidance on how to effectively implement nonstructural BMPs as a means of reducing nonpoint source pollution. In addition to providing design and implementation guidance, the Handbook provides guidelines to enable the planner to reasonably estimate pollution prevented or controlled as a result of implementing various nonstructural techniques.
