PAPs (Prescription Assistance Programs)
Prescription Assistance Programs (PAPs) are offered by many drug manufacturers to help uninsured and lower-income people afford the medicine they need. Each PAP determines a patient's eligibility for assistance based on their individual program requirements, which can vary widely.

Common Application for HIV Patient Assistance Programs

On September 12, 2012 a common application form for PAPs for HIV/AIDS drugs was adopted. It allows uninsured individuals living with HIV to use one application to apply to multiple pharmaceutical companies for assistance programs that together provide an entire course of antiretroviral therapy.

Preseciption Assistance Programs for other Conditions

Medications for other conditions that were formerly available through the Virginia AIDS Drug Assistance Program program (ADAP) are now available through PAPs but require use of each appropriate pharmaceutical company's application form. See a list of these medications with their manufacturers at PAPs: Medications Other than HIV Antiretrovirals.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance offers a single point of access to more than 2,500 free and discount prescriptions through more than 475 public and private programs, including more than 200 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. There is no charge to use the Partnership for Prescription Assistance and no eligibility requirements for information.
