Vision Fairfax Mason Charrette

The City of Fairfax and George Mason University hosted a three-day planning workshop from November 6 to 8, 2014 to explore various short and long term visions for the City’s Historic Downtown Area, and its connection to Mason’s campus. City residents, businesses and the Mason community were invited to attend any or all of the scheduled sessions during the three-day workshop.

The workshop, facilitated by the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, looked at several aspects of downtown planning, including transportation, community development/design issues, economic development and housing. This type of public input-based planning process has been used in many other communities in Northern Virginia and can be a successful way to ensure that multiple viewpoints are heard in planning for the City’s future.

You can view all of the presentations and read the final report on the City of Fairfax web site.
