The Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) released the Federal Procurement Spending in Virginia and Northern Virginia,A Critical Component of Virginia's Defense-Related Infrastructure outlining the massive impact of Federal procurement (non-payroll, defense and non-defense) on the region and the Commonwealth of Virginia. The report was presented to the NVRC Board of Commissioners on November 12, 2015.

The report examines Federal procurement from 2010 thru 2014 and is based upon an analysis of more than 1.17 million Federal procurement transactions that were recorded from October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2014 (a 5-year period).
