Private contractors that manage snow and ice removal for parking lots, sidewalks, and other property surfaces play a significant role in the amount of salt that ends up in our local waterways every winter. To address this issue, NVRC was pleased to receive funding from Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to host a one-day training event on winter salt management for contractors on September 27th, 2022.
The training, which was facilitated by AMT Engineering, aimed to educate participants on salting best management practices that both support public safety and reduce negative salt impacts on the environment. The event consisted of four modules:
This webinar serves as a condensed version of the daylong training program to highlight the four different training modules and present a range of best management practices for snow and ice management professionals.
