Per the Commonwealth's 2005 Local and Regional Water Supply Planning (WSP) Regulation, NVRC supports Northern Virginia localities in drinking water supply source protection and planning efforts. This includes the development of the 2011 Northern Virginia Drinking Water Supply Plan as well as various projects and technical assistance programs to encourage and promote the beneficial use of the region's water resources and drinking water supply. Specific public outreach and education efforts around water quality and drinking water source protection are conducted through the Northern Virginia Clean Water Partners program.
