Walking and Biking Trails - GIS Data Warehouse

This mapping application is a data warehouse of Northern Virginia trails data resources that are maintained by Northern Virginia local governments, non-profit agencies, and Northern Virginia Regional Commission.  All of the trails data in this warehouse are live connections to active data sources.

This data warehouse was identified as a regional priority at the Annual Regional Trails Summit of 2022 and developed by NVRC in 2023. As a data warehouse, the purpose is to share existing trails data resources for regional planning and to inform the general public of the trails in the community that can be used for recreation, leisure activity, and transportation. Note, trails data schemas and spatial accuracies differ among entities as this is a data warehouse and not intended to be a standardized data set.

Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail - Maps

The Northern Virginia Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail (PHNST) Dashboard serves as an interactive tool to explore NVRC's range of data, maps, and resources for the region's section of the PHNST. Dashboard users can find background information about the trail system as well as regularly updated data and maps on PHNST attributes, activities, and other features to learn about the trail and support regional trail planning efforts.
