NVRC addresses the health care needs and concerns of its member local governments in a number of ways.
As administrative agent for the Ryan White Treatment and Modernization Act Part A and B funds, and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) funds in Northern Virginia, NVRC ensures federal funding available for health care treatment and allied services reaches low-income, uninsured and underinsured people with
HIV/AIDS in the region.
NVRC provides meeting space and staffing support to a number of community coalitions concerned with health care issues, including HIV/AIDS and access to health care for residents of the region who are without a medical home.
Through a Memorandum of Understanding between NVRC’s Board of Commissioners and the Board of Directors of the
Health Systems Agency of Northern Virginia, NVRC appoints members to the HSANV’s Board. The Health Systems Agency is chartered in state law to plan for the balanced and orderly development of costly health treatment and diagnostic services.
