Services Provided
Local government housing offices offer an array of special needs and subsidized rental housing, as well as homeownership opportunities, housing information, and related services.
Housing Programs Offered
Homeless shelters and time-limited transitional housing programs provide a temporary residence and skills building to prepare residents to move into permanent housing.
Housing facilities designed for the elderly and disabled may contain special features such as meal programs and health care services.
Rental subsidy programs provide modest income tenants with lower-cost rentals or subsidies to reduce the tenant portion of the rent payment.
These programs usually include tenant- and/or project-based Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly Section 8), locally funded rental assistance programs, tax credit rental, and other assisted rental housing programs.
